Print And Resistance: Print Media And Social Movements

There is a long tradition of artists as organizers and participants in movements for social justice communicating demands and goals through visual works. Print and Resistance is a survey of over a decade of thematic print portfolios produced by Justseeds Artists' Cooperative in concert with a variety of social movements across North America.
They bring together visual articulations addressing the prison industrial complex, resource extraction, migration, reproductive justice, anti-war organizing, systemic poverty, and the climate crisis. The installation of wallpaper and suspended prints create intersecting patterns honoring historical and contemporary struggles.
With members working from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, Justseeds operates as a unified collaboration of similarly minded printmakers, as well as a loose collection of creative individuals with unique viewpoints and working methods. We believe in the transformative power of personal expression in concert with collective action.
Accessibility
We are partially physically accessible. We have a level entrance leading to our shop, information desk, galleries, washroom and traditional print studio. Unfortunately, we do not have automatic doors or an elevator. We are working toward becoming a physically accessible space in the future.
Lost Illusions - Andrew O'Connor

Lost Illusions is a sculptural, audiovisual installation about the moments of tranquility and solitude that resonate when being truly present with the natural landscape. The opening reception will be accompanied with an immersive, audiovisual performance by Tidal Pool and Andrew O'Connor that will take place at 9:00 pm.
Andrew O'Connor is a Hamilton-based multi-disciplinary artist, VJ and designer whose work explores and blends light, video, 2D mixed media, animation, and inter- active installation. O'Connor has exhibited, screened, and performed in Europe, United States, and around Canada. He is a cofounding member of OPTICKS and Hamilton Audio Visual Node.
